>> OUR SITE
:.Purpose behind the site
Two purposes:
{a} Spreading knowledge
{b} Aiding the da`wah in The Gambia.
{A} SPREADING KNOWLEDGE:
"Read" {al Alaq:1} is the first verse revealed to our Prophet {sallallahu alaihi wasallam}, and in it is a command to learn. This applies to his Ummah as well.
Allah, the most High says: "and remember when Allah took the covenant from those who were given the book
{Jews and Christians} that they should clarify its contents to the people, and not hide it"
{al Imran
3:187}
TAFSEER: Imam as-Sa`dee in Taysirul Kareemur Rahman commented: "Allah took this covenant from all those He revealed books upon, and knowledge, that they make clear to the people what they need to know"
Shaykh ibnul-Uthaimeen said: " For truly upon the student of knowledge is a great responsibility, greater than the
{responsibility of} zakaah due upon the wealthy. It is a duty that he strives and moves to spread knowledge and heedfulness in the Islamic nation, otherwise it would deviate from the legislation of Allah"
{Qawlul Mufeed ala sharh kitaab tawheed. Daar Ibunul Jawzee
print 1/155].
{B} AIDING THE DA`WAH IN THE GAMBIA:
Allah, ta`alaa says: "the believers {male and female} are awliyaa {allies and protectors} of one another" {at-Tawbah
9:71}
TAFSEER: Shaykh Saalih aal-Shaykh said: "They have love for one another, they have devotion and care for one another, they help one another out"
{tape: al Usool ash-Shar`iyyah li ta`aamulin nas}
The Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi wasallam} said: "The
believers are like a solid structure, each part supporting the other"
Shaykh Ibrahim ar-Ruhailee explained this: "It is known that in any particular structure, the component bricks are of diverse qualities
{size, mass, density, shape etc}. However, when these
different bricks are brought together, the individual deficiencies
{in size, shape and mass} are compensated for by the other bricks."
{Sharh Riyaad Saaliheen. Ramadaan 1426H}.
We say: The Gambia, like the remaining countries within the Ummah is in severe need of the correct call to Islam that purifies and then cultivates. The reason for highlighting the Gambia is:
{1} Its our home country. The Messenger of Allah {sallalllahu alaihi wasallam} told the delegation of Abdul Qais after their arrival at Madina in order to receive instruction in religion: "Return to your people and teach them".
{2} Lack of exposure to the methodology of the salaf due to
insufficient contact with the major scholars of the Ummah.
{3} Limited resources available for spreading the correct teachings of Islam.
{4} A Muslim majority population of 90%.
{5} A growing interest amongst the youth toward accepting the methodology of the salaf.
:.How to benefit from the site
Remember the hadeeth: {Indeed actions are but by intention}.
KNOW:
{1} That this website is purposely meant to serve
Islamic
knowledge, and hence the featured material shall be directed
towards this incentive, and non other {inshaAllah}.
{2} That this website has been initiated to supplement already existing material in known Salafee websites. We
{inshaAllah} wish to introduce new material to the web rather than duplicate present work.
We hope that the da`wah progresses with such an approach.
{3} We have specifically catered for potential students of knowledge by laying down a certain course of study, along with a series of advice and guidelines on seeking knowledge named:
YOUR GATEWAY TO SEEKING KNOWLEDGE.
{4} We have adopted a casual approach in the
presentation of knowledge in this website hoping by that to
encourage the Gambian youth, and other than them to explore
the unique beauty of their religion {al-Islaam}.
{5} We are your brothers in Islaam, so we need your help
in the management of this website. Send your corrections,
suggestions and advice to us at: info@dagambia.net
SOME USEFUL POINTS:
{1} Get familiar with the site map, in order to access required material.
{2} Know your level of knowledge. That way you prioritise your reading of the articles. This will be discussed more in:
YOUR GATEWAY TO SEEKING KNOWLEDGE.
{3} Continuity is a great foundation said ibnul-Jawzee in his
{wasaayaa litaalibil ilm}. The best deeds are those that are most constant even if they were small in consideration. Once a day, or twice a week, or half-hour daily dedicated to seeking knowledge goes a long way. This will be discussed more in:
YOUR GATEWAY TO SEEKING KNOWLEDGE.
{4} Read that which you are in most need of
knowing. Meaning all that which is impermissible for you to
be ignorant of: such as the the issues of creed {aqeedah},
and the obligatory acts of worship before moving onto the
other branches of knowledge.
{5} Start with the basics. Master them before going onto
the advanced issues. Umar ibn Abdil `Azeez said: May Allah
be merciful to the slave who knows himself.
{6} Make summarized notes of the different issues, and
review them on a regular basis {monthly for example}.
That way you retain and build upon your knowledge.

:.Understand Our Site

Allah, ta`aalaa
says: “ I did not create Jinn and Mankind for any other
purpose except that they single me out in worship”
{Dhariyat:56}
In the Saheehain {Bukhaaree
and Muslim}, the Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi
wasallam} asked Mu`aadh:
“O Mu`adh, do
you know the right of Allah upon the Creation, and the right
of the Creation upon Allah?” Mu`adh {radiyallahu `anhu}
replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best”. He {sallalllahu
alaihi wasallam} then said: “The right of Allah upon the
Creation is that they worship Him alone, and do not ascribe
partners to Him in that, and the right of the Creation upon
Allah is that He wil not punish the one who did not ascribe
partners to Him in worship.”
Ibnul Qayyim says in Madaarijus Saalikeen:
“ Chapter: The obligation of ‘iyaaka
na`budu’ {worshipping Allah alone} upon every servant to
the point of death.
Allah ta`aalaa said to His Messenger “and
worship your Lord until al-Yaqeen {death} comes to
you” { al Hijr:99}.
And the people of Hellfire said: “and we used
to talk falsehood with those who talked falsehood, and we
disbelieved in the Day of Recompense until al-Yaqeen
{death} came to us” {Mudathir: 45-47}
‘al-Yaqeen’
here is death as is the consensus of all the scholars of
tafseer.
And in as Saheeh, the account of the death of
Uthman ibn Madh`on {radiyallahu anhu} that the Prophet {sallallahu
alaihi wassallam} said: “As for Uthman, then al-Yaqeen has
surely come to him from His Lord” meaning: death. Therefore,
the slave is never detached from Uboodiyyah {servitude} so
long as he is in Daru-Takleef {the worldly life}”
{end of Ibnul Qayyim’s words. Vol 1 pg. 103.
Daarur Rashad al Hadeetha print}
We say: When this has become clear to the
slave, that he was brought into existence for the sole
purpose of singling out his Lord in worship, it only makes
sense that this worship be given priority above all matters.
Question:
How does this connect with the set up of your
website?
Answer:
Ibnul Qayyim says in Madaarijus Salikeen {pg.
109}:
“al-Uboodiyyah {servitude} revolves around 15
foundations. Whoever fulfils them has fulfilled the levels
of al-Uboodiyyah.
And its clarification is that al-Uboodiyyah
is apportioned upon the heart, the tongue and the limbs.
And upon each is a specific {role} in servitude.
And the rulings that apply to al-Uboodiyyah
are five: Waajib {the obligatory}, Mustahabb {the
recommended}, Haraam {the impermissible}, Makrooh {the
disliked}, and Mubaah {the permissible}. And these apply to
each from: the heart, the tongue and limbs.”
